Dennison issued at least four door hanger designs. Two are pretty common, two aren’t. This is one of the latter. I can’t recall seeing one for sale in decades. Given how thin the paper Dennison used at this time was, few of their products have traversed the decades well. The damage this piece has sustained is minimal. I am not surprised this door hanger fetched such dollars - as did its 1930 mate offered by the same lucky seller.

VINTAGE DENNISON HALLOWEEN CARDBOARD DOOR HANGER DECORATION HALLO-INN MINT !!!
This is another example of a seller foolishly listing a rare item with a BIN not reflective of what the item would have brought if offered in an auction format. This item is Dennison door hanger from 1930. Given the minty condition, I’m certain this would have fetched no less than $350.

This door hanger was made by Dennison and first appeared in their 1930 Price List pamphlet with a stock number of H6601/2. My reference assigns it an RSIN of “3” but I feel a change to “2” is warranted. The condition is not ideal. Is this one of those instances when rarity trumps condition? See page 143 for the “Come In’ door hanger which should have a changed RSIN of “1”. I’ve seen it once in 30 years.

For the ending price of $100 plus shipping, this was a solid deal for the buyer. All 5 items were made by Dennison in the later 1920s. The black cat face door hangers typically fetch $40-60 each with the small diecuts typically fetching $30-40 each.
