VERY RARE VINTAGE 1923 BEISTLE HALLOWEEN FAIRY CLOCK ENVELOPE MADE IN U. S. A.

What treasures are coming to light! It must be that time of the year. Beistle was deservedly known as a firm that often took as much care in their packaging as with the items contained within. Many of their envelopes, like this one for their 1923 fairy clock, are works of art. Few of these envelopes survived, and those that did are typically found in the same condition as this one - rough. Even so, I expect this will do well. I’ll be monitoring…

09/21 Update: This sold for $405, not as well as I had expected.

1920's Beistle Fairy Clock Halloween Die Cut

This wonderful, colorful and large Beistle fairy clock was produced for a single season, 1923. Overall, it is in better condition than average. However, in addition to the missing large hand, notice the crease to the body and the missing tip of the fairy’s wing. Again, these are minimally material given the clock’s size and irregular border. As I type this out, the bidding has reached $482. It still has room to run.

07/21 Update: This sold for a respectable $910.

Halloween Clock Beistle 1923 Very Rare Nice Shape

This 1923 fairy clock diecut manufactured by Beistle is a real eye-catcher. Imposing, brightly colored and pretty far out there in terms of overall imagery, this diecut doesn't come up for sale very often - perhaps twice a year on eBay. With all that in mind, I was surprised that it didn't fetch more. The seller did a good job at pointing out the blemishes, and there were many, but all in all I would have expected this to fetch in the $500-600 range.

This is another example of how white hot early Beistle items are in the marketplace. Beistle made this clock for only a single season - 1923 - and those that have survived the nearly 100 years tend to be in rough shape, mainly due to the large form factor and irregular borders. The seller, thanks to at least one eagle-eyed viewer, revised the listing to highlight that the clocks weren't mint, but they sure were as close as I've mostly seen. (The real star of the lot was the envelope. These ephemeral items were nearly all tossed aside. I still haven't found one for the collection.) I placed a few bids, but the final price was a fully valued one.

Vintage Halloween Die Cut Cardboard Elf, Pumpkins, Clock, Decoration

This eye-catcher is the much sought after Beistle fairy clock made only for the 1923 season. Because it was made for only the one season, these rarely surface for sale. When they do, they are nearly always in the same condition as this example. This is a large, irregularly bordered diecut, so bends, perimeter nicks and surface paper loss defects are common. Condition is, of course, an important factor in determining value. SGV for this masterpiece of design is $750-850.

10/26 Update: Given the condition issues present with this example, the ending price was a strong $699.99.
