Vintage Everything for Your Halloween Party Book Nell Spots Hats Nut Cups

I was asked recently if this Whitman publication has been reprinted. My answer was that I haven’t heard of any authorized or unauthorized reprints. The level of interest for this booklet has never been strong, so I don’t see the financial feasibility of an entity pursuing a reprinting.

09/11 Update: I was contacted by a reader, Mary R., who wrote to say this book has been reprinted. Here is what she wrote: “The "Everything for Your Halloween Party" book has indeed been reprinted. I bought a copy from Amazon a few years ago. As you said, the book is uninteresting. You can still look this up on Amazon and also read my review of it. I believe the Ebay seller of this item has a repro and I informed him/her of this.”

Vintage Halloween Party Decoration Box 1930's

Whitman is like Rodney Dangerfield in that it doesn't get much respect. Their products were cheaply made and looked it. That said, elements of this set are not bad - especially the 6 nut cups. (I have the cat nut cup and until reviewing this listing I didn't know which manufacturer produced it.) The Zingo game, the crepe paper and some other minor bits weren't part of the original boxed set.

Early Halloween Folded Candy Holder OWL 3.25" ~ Used / folded

This is an item clipped from a 1930s Whitman Halloween Party Book. Several designs appeared on a page and were meant to be clipped and used as place cards. The entire book typically changes hands for $50-65, so I feel the price for the three designs from the book this seller is offering is too high.

This result makes little sense to me. What you have is merely a remnant from one of Whitman's rather pedestrian Halloween pamphlets consisting of pages of cut-outs. The graphics are not that compelling, the paper stock is thin and one cannot escape the fact that it is merely a remnant. Now, granted, eBay has really offered little to get excited about overall for years, but surely there are better ways to spend $339.

Vintage 1940's / 1950's Halloween: CAT and WITCH PARTY GAME by Whitman

Although arguably the most commonly seen Halloween-themed game out there, I've long enjoyed the simple graphics and premise of the game. Made by Whitman Publishing of Racine, Wisconsin in prodigious quantities for about a seven year span beginning in the mid-1930s, it surfaces regularly for sale and typically brings near or slightly above the seller's opening price. If they had designed the game just a decade later, the witch surely would have looked much less fearsome.
