Lot 98 1910s German Handheld Fan
This handheld fan was produced in Germany sometime during the 1910s or early 1920s. Both sides have sublime, early imagery. On one side the ferocious cat is tormenting the JOL. The other side has that oh-so-German broomed witch riding through the sky with bats, crows and an owl. The fan was held by a simple wood stick. The fan measures ~11.5” high by ~7” across. There is significant wear at the top made worse by the liberal application of tape to hold things in place. (A good paper restorer should be able to largely repair this.) On the witch side, there is a closed tear that runs from the top border down completely through the witch.
