Lot 91 Early 1930s Beistle Four-Sided Collapsible Lantern
Beistle produced this four-sided collapsible lantern during the early 1930s. It is among the most elusive lanterns Beistle produced. I believe it was made for at most, two seasons. The imagery is unusually detailed and not used elsewhere except for a four-sided, hard-paneled lantern you can see at the top left of page 36. The widest point of each panel is ~6.5”. When the lantern is flat, it measures ~12.5” across. When hanging, it measures ~8.5” high. The panel showing the cat has two small perforations. There is wear throughout, but the lantern is complete and strong. When hanging, the buyer will want to put a small, weighted object at the bottom to keep the lantern fully closed.
