Lot 84                1920s Whitney Mechanical Cat Table Decoration
This odd item was produced during the 1920s, probably by Whitney. It is a cat table decoration with a mechanical function. There is a prop on the reverse that allows the cat to stand on a flat surface. When you lift the prop, you can see a wheel, attached to which is the tail. When this fully functional wheel turns the tail moves back and forth. I have never seen this item before. As one would expect with an item that begs to be put into action, there is some wear. It looks like a prior owner hung it on a wall with a tack. The mechanical cat measures ~8” high by ~4” across.
