Lot 73 1950s Witch Face Lantern
This dual-sided slot-and-tab witch lantern with differing faces was produced during the 1950s by a manufacturer unknown to me. It measures ~6.5” high by ~5.75” across by ~3” deep. Here is what I write about this lantern on page 30: “This lantern is devilishly difficult to find in near-mint condition. The mystery manufacturer didn’t have a solid grasp on coloration as I have seen examples where the faces range from a bright green to a deep olive.” Often, even on the same lantern the sides differ in color. That’s the case here, where one side is darker than the other. The slot-and-tab construction is solid. The inserts are original and perfectly intact. The snarling side has some concavity to it.
