Lot 60                  1920s Unused Rust Craft Tally Card
Over the last three years or so, two producers of vintage Halloween small paper have come into their own with collectors. Dennison, Gibson and to a lesser extent, Beistle, have uneasily shared the small paper throne for many years, but as of late challengers like Hallmark and Rust Craft have emerged. Although none of these mentioned can compete with the sheer breadth and depth of Dennison product lines, the latter two can easily compete on the grounds of artistic creativity and sheer bravado. I have become a huge fan of both Hallmark and Rust Craft, eagerly sniffing them out like a truffle hunter. This tally shows a pair of dressed children hiding under a window holding their JOL parade lanterns. I appreciate the flanking bat and the querulous expression on the dowager’s face. The tally measures ~3.5” high by ~3.5” across. Its stock number is 3H2.
