Lot 60                1950s Beistle 3-D Scarecrow Fold-Out Decoration (BOOK ITEM)
Beistle made a trio of these cleverly designed fold-out table decorations during the mid-1950s. This is the scarecrow scene. The fold-out sections at the base are typically in poor shape and often have been repaired in some way, typically with staples or tape. Thankfully, this example has avoided that fate. There is a soft bend where the scarecrow’s hand meets the moon’s perimeter. It measures ~8” high by ~7.75” wide. This is the very item photographed for my reference books. It appears on page 231 of the third edition. This entered the collection on June 1, 1995. The buyer will receive a handwritten note on my personal Halloween stationery attesting to this provenance.
