2566 1922 Rare Large Beistle Two-Piece Fortune
Beistle produced a two-piece fortune design as part of their 1923 party sets. (These sets were most commonly in booklet form, then enveloped, then boxed.) Each set had four fortunes. They seem to be the most avidly collected pieces from the sets. I can see why as the juxtaposition of the fairy and owl is pleasing. Now, much rarer are the two-piece fortune designs from the 1922 enveloped party set. Although the imagery is identical, the 1922 versions are larger. The pumpkin piece measures 2.5” high, closed, by ~3.5” across. The owl fortune measures ~3.75” high by ~1.25” across. The first photo shows the size differential. The smaller and more common two-piece fortunes have these measurements: pumpkin piece: ~2” high, closed, by 3” across; owl fortune: ~3” high by ~1” across. The smaller set is not part of the lot. It is shown for comparison purposes only.
