25210                1926-1927 Beistle Owl Domino Band Hat Mask
Beistle issued four designs of these Domino Band Hat Masks during the 1926 and 1927 seasons. They then eliminated the band hat and reissued the same four designs as simply Domino Masks for the 1928 through 1931 seasons. (Please refer to a blog post for more information.) The Domino Band Hat Masks are exceedingly rare. I suspect they were not strong sellers as few have made their way onto the secondary market. This is the owl design. Note that the design is printed directly onto the band hat. It isn’t stapled or glued – but all part of a unified design. The colors are bright and the orange honeycomb interior of the band hat is completely intact. There is a closed tear measuring ~4” shown in the photos. Some archival tape applied to the reverse would make the condition issue nearly invisible from a display perspective. The band hat is tight, indicating this was seldom and gently used. It measures ~7” high by ~11.5” across.
