Lot 62                1930s Bugle Toy Tin Litho Clanger
Bugle Toy of Providence, Rhode Island produced tin litho noisemakers with some of the most inventive and startling graphics on the market at that time. (Conversely, their lithoed paper output was decidedly ho-hum.) This 1930s clanger has four vignettes overseen by four bats at the base of the sculpted orange wood handle. (The handles on this design were not meant to be firmly attached to the noisemaker. In every example I’ve seen they are only loosely attached, as is this one.) There is rust on the underside that does not intrude onto the graphics. The item measures ~3.75” in diameter.
