Lot 107 Late 1920s German Horn with Wood Top (BOOK ITEM)
This large paper litho over cardboard horn was made in Germany during the late 1920s and possibly into the early 1930s. The paper is covered with a myriad of images, some odd, some less odd: JOL with monocle, black cat face, turnip, slug, crescent moon, several different witches, several full-bodied cats, etc. The horn measures ~14.5” high and is in very fine plus condition with bright colors. There is a small section of the wood top missing. I have never seen another such horn or any other items using this lithoed paper design. This is the very item photographed for my reference books and appearing on page 194 of the third edition. This entered the collection on November 9, 1998. The prevailing bidder will receive a handwritten note on my personal Halloween stationary attesting to this provenance.
