Lot 102             1930s German Broomed Witch Windowpane Diecut
This rare heavily embossed diecut was made in Germany during the early 1930s. It measures ~12.75” square. It is one of four windowpane diecut designs produced and arguably the most popular. Because these are so large and heavy, it is common and expected for there to be wear to the perimeter. Overall, this is in better than normal condition. The lower right corner has surface paper loss. Oddly, the lower left corner has much of its surface paper but is missing the actual cardboard. There is a slight concavity to the diecut that could be eliminated by pressing. Other than these minor issues, the diecut itself is bright and rich in coloration. I don’t think this was displayed often over the decades.
