Item 125 Collector’s Showcase Magazine September/October 1983
When I first began collecting vintage Halloween in 1988 there were no references available to the collector devoted exclusively to the subject. So, I created an archive scouring past issues of the then very much in vogue collecting magazine genre trying to make sense of when and where vintage items were produced and who produced them. I found the articles contained within these magazines invaluable in the work I did in writing my trio of reference books. Today my archive is deep, rich and always growing. I still find informative nuggets when I devote the time to once again read the many articles. I recently had the good fortune of obtaining a large quantity of collecting magazines from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. I went through them all, keeping those key issues I was never able to find. I am now going to begin offering duplicates of key magazines that can form the foundation of your own archives. This issue contains a profusely illustrated three-page article on German candy containers written by Jackie Chamberlain. Although many holidays are represented, Halloween is very well represented.
